An Organically Beautiful Bride
As a bride, you have to make a lot of decisions for your big day. To name just a few-location, number of people, flower type, wedding colors, party favors? It’s a lot to think about and however long your engagement is, you will think about it the whole time. Everyone always tells you how your wedding day goes by “ like a blink of an eye.” That analogy is hard to grasp when you haven’t been married before. Now that I am officially a wife and have experienced my own wedding, I now understand this “blink of an eye” concept.
This is the best way I can break it down…You know when you go on vacation and when you leave you talk about what you would do the next time you come back and what you would leave out? Well, hopefully you only get married once, so my advice is, do what you want to do and be true to the girl you are!
My wedding was magical and there are two things that standout that I would NEVER change. The man I married and doing my own makeup with all my natural skincare products! Every time I have paid to have my makeup done, I have always been disappointed. Not only did I not feel like myself, but also when looking back at the photographs from those events, I can see the makeup caked on my face. I used to always say to myself “should have just lit my money on fire and danced around.”
Now I realize that it was because of those events that I decided to do my own makeup application on my biggest day of my life to date. I figured, no one knows what I like better than myself and no one knows my vision more than I.
Being a Holistic Esthetician, if I was really going to stay true to who I am, then a non-toxic cosmetic wedding day was what had to happen! The evening before the wedding, I painted my nails with Keeki Pure and Simples chemical free nail polish. The morning of the wedding, I used all my typical skincare KPS Essential products and of course, I used my Zinc based SPF to protect and prime my face. For my makeup, I used my favorite, Aisling Organics Cosmetics, for a full enhancement of my naturally beautiful features. I applied my organic foundation, concealer, blush, eye shadow, liner, mascara, and even lined my eyebrows for a change! I finished with my favorite liquid lipstick color, “Poppy”, and was ready for my bridal debut.
As for the results, honestly, I have never felt more beautiful and true to myself than the day I walked down the aisle. I was certainly confident in who I was marrying, and I had extra confidence doing it in front of my loved ones with my beautiful makeup. I know everyone is different when it comes to color preferences and how much makeup one is used to wearing. Despite that, my advice to any soon-to-be bride, if you have had similar experiences with makeup applications, don’t hesitate to do your own makeup on your day, it takes the stress out of the most magical day of your life and reminded me that even though my life would now be shared, I can always stay true to the beautiful person I am, inside and out.
