Nutritionally Fit Series: Cooking Class 3 - Begin with Breakfast

Audrey - Cooking Class FB Event Cover.png

Wow, does a body notice a difference when breakfast is balanced and filling vs. sugar laden, light and lacking in plants! Audrey will demo and discuss her favorite breakfast options which are always satisfying and real-food, plant-based! There will be a mix of options for those who desire food on the fly or leisurely and calm (and a bit of coaching around this topic). Yum!

With a background in education, over 13 years of experience in the kitchen working with whole foods and feeding her active family of 5, Audrey has mastered what it takes to lead clients to take action. There are many ways to make healthy eating taste amazing, but without the necessary kitchen skills, it can often seem impossible and become a road block.

Highlights of the evening include:
- Explanations and demos with fresh picked local produce.
- Plant based recipes.
- Hands-on learning for those who prefer it.
- A little wine for sipping and infused water for tasting.
- Food sampling.
- Food storage and safety tips.
- Brief group coaching segment/time for Q&A.
- Recipe handout.

Releasing the Grasp of Trauma: Self-care Strategies to Aid Recovery from Trauma

FB Cover - Releasing the Grasp of Trauma_.png

Let’s face it, life today is stressful. What we often don’t realize is that everyday stress and strain can show up in the body in the same way that major traumas do. These unpleasant everyday events can leave us out of balance and can be difficult to move beyond if the underlying responses of the body are not addressed in a holistic manner.

If you are working to find better balance and heal out of a difficult situation or stressful event in your life, join David Johnson, MD and Laurie DeDecker, RN, MHIA on October 14th from 1:00 – 4:30 pm to learn simple self-care techniques that can help you regain better balance as you heal out of stressful events you have experienced in your life.

We will explore how the body responds to, and takes on the energy of trauma. Then we will help you develop an understanding of how simple techniques can help bring better life balance, allowing for healing to occur on a deeper level. Anyone with an interest in the topic is welcome to join us. You do not need to have experienced a ‘major’ trauma to benefit from this workshop.

Tickets are $45 and space is limited to 15 people.

Call 616-264-6556 to RSVP or purchase your tickets online at the link provided.

Grandmothers of the Sacred We – Sharing from the Heart

20258335_10159112602770261_7646847040757072029_n.jpg

1Breath4All is honored and privileged to host the Grandmothers of the Sacred We in Grand Rapids for an evening event in which they will share; from the heart, indigenous wisdom, healing and hope for the future of our planet.

We are wisdom keepers, Elders, Grandmothers and Great Grandmothers (these are titles) from various nations and traditions: Hopi, Maori, Mayan, Sufi and Ojibwe. Grandfathers and also Healers. Amidst this time of separation we come together with a message of oneness and our interconnection.

We work through the use of songs, guided meditations, teaching stories, chants, healing practices and sacred ceremony to restore balance and remembrance. These tools provide healing to the fractured places in the psyche of mankind, and also guidance, support and instructions for personal empowerment.
We share with the people we meet, and also plan to make available audio and video formats of our diverse teachings. YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jkl-FToPwM

$20 in advance – $25 at the door. All proceeds go to the Art of Healing Foundation.

Yoga For Community Series: Infertility

Yoga for Community Series - 1.png

While 1 in 8 couples in the US experience struggles when trying to grow their families, navigating your fertility journey can be a very isolated experience. We need community to help us bear the burden of grief, anger, anxiety, sadness, and frustration. We need community to say, “You? Me too.”

We are not meant to live life alone. We are created for community. Yet, when life gets hard and we find ourselves in the middle of a struggle, we find ourselves retreating further and further into isolation. Finding community is hard. Finding a community that can empathize and understand what you are going through, well that feels practically impossible.

Grand Rapids Natural Health and Jenny Tanis Counseling & Yoga have decided to intentionally create a safe space for you to explore mindful breath and movement in a community of people who understand your struggle. Come experience a gentle yoga class that will aid in relaxation, increase blood circulation and energy flow, balance hormone levels, and promote self-love. During the Yoga for Community series, Counselor and Yoga Teacher, Jenny Tanis, will lead you through a gentle yoga class designed specifically to help address your current concern. Jenny will share with you the physical and emotional benefits of the movement and breath-work so that you can incorporate them into your daily routine.

Additional resources and community support information will be provided. Following class, if you feel comfortable, you are invited to stay for tea and snacks and connect with other individuals who are navigating a similar journey. There is medicine in “me too”. Join us and find the healing power of a compassionate community.

RSVP online or by calling (616) 264-6556. Admission is $10. Please email Jenny Tanis, LMSW, RYT 200 with any questions jtanis@grnaturalhealth.com.
