Paths to Healing

  • On the Path Yoga 701 East Savidge Street Spring Lake, MI, 49456 United States (map)

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and since the #metoo campaign we have learned how prevalent and pervasive sexual assault is in our culture. For this event On the Path Yoga will have a panel of experts, including GRNH's own Chris Wheeler, CST, that are from a wide range of Complimentary and Integrative Medicine. There is evidence that activities such as yoga, energy work, writing, social work, naturopathy, and manual therapies can be of great value in healing. Whether you are a victim of sexual assault or you know of others or situations that contribute to this problem, learn about paths to healing that are available within our community.

Panelists come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Some are victims themselves of sexual assault. By embracing their voices in healing, we hope that other survivors, teachers, and healers can raise their voices and support one another. Information from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center as well as the panelists will be available in the lobby.

Panlists Include:
Sue William Silverman, author: Because I Remember Terror, Father, I Remember You
Chris Wheeler: Cranial Sacral Therapist, Energy Practitioner, Grand Rapids Natural Health
Abigaile Dahl: Yoga Instructor
Rebecca Neil: Massage and Flotation Therapist
Malea Nicolet: Arvigo Method of Mayan Abdominal Massage
Sally Carpenter: Emotion/Body Code Practitioner
Megan Hennessey, LMSW: Clinical Services Supervisor CWIT
Crystal Frazee: Pelvic Floor PT, Women's Health Coach

There will be time for audience questions and discussion. This event is free, but donations to the Center for Women in Transition (CWIT) will be accepted. Let's change #metoo to #saam and from a culture of violence to a culture of healing and community.
